What is a Softerfields Listening Session?
A slow cultural gathering built around records, context and conversation.
We listen together, in full, with a short introduction to the music, its world, and why it matters.
Do I need to know a lot about music?
No. You do not need to be a collector, critic or expert.
Curiosity is enough.
Will there be food and drinks?
Yes. Drinks & Snacks are often curated around the mood of the record, and scent is part of the experience too. The idea is to let the music open into a fuller atmosphere, not just sit as sound.
Will there be conversation?
The listening stays quiet, but conversation happens before, after and around the record.
Sometimes the best part is hearing what someone else noticed.
What kind of music do you play?
Records with a world behind them. Ambient, post-punk, city pop, folk, soundtracks, jazz,
experimental music, regional scenes, strange cult records, and anything worth sitting with.
How long is each session?
Usually 2 hours, depending on the record and the conversation.
Can I use my phone?
We encourage phones away once the session begins.
Take a photo before or after if you like, but during the listening, let the record have the room.
Can I come alone?
Most people do. The room is meant to be easy to enter, even if you do not know anyone.
